Purple clay teapots are produced in Yixing, China. The raw materials known as purple clay. In general, it includes purple clay, red clay and original green clay.
The various tpes of clay within the purple clay group contain different quantities fo oxidized iron. A proper ixure of all these clay may produce different colour after being fired at various temperatures.
Purple clay has the reputation of being a high quality clay because of its fine texture and porous nature, as well as being easily moulded into teapots.
